DIY: honey-avocado hair treatment
We all like to save the planet by purchasing 'green' products, right? These products, however, are mostly super expensive and swallow our income up in a heartbeat. Are you also coping with these effects? We have the perfect solution for you!
Try a homemade honey-avocado hair treatment, it's cheap and really good for your hair.
In earlier times, avocado pulp was used as a hair pomade to stimulate hair growth. Its oil is still used today in several hair and cosmetic products. It perhaps sounds strange to smear avocado on your hair, but the protein in avocado oil strengthens the hair shaft, leading to better manageability and less breakage. Score! Vitamins A, D and E all work to moisturize and soften hair, leaving it silkier, smoother and shinier.
Honey, on the other hand, not only smells great but has cleansing properties to gently rid the hair product build-up without stripping it of its natural oils. Honey forms a protective layer on our hair, helping to prevent damage from products, styling and the elements. Another score! :)
Enough with the background information, how about making such a nice hair treatments?
Well, all you need for one application is 1 medium avocado (peeled and stoned) and 2 tablespoons of honey.
Just mash the ingredients together in a small bowl and massage the mixture into your hair.
Leave it for 20-30 minutes and then wash your hair as usual.
Simple right?
Make sure when purchasing the avocado that it is already a bit soft. They ripe very slowly, and when you are in a extreme hair-failure situation, you do want a quick fix. If you did bought a avocado that did not ripe enough, you can check some tips on how to speed the ripening.
Happy DIY'ing!
