DIY: sugarwax

This annoying chore can now also be done by yourself in a much smoother way. Unfortunately not entirely painless, but this method is more effective and gives you better results, so that you don’t have to depilate often. Also, you don’t have to spend your money on treatments at the salon and you don’t have to buy wax strips, which still didn’t work as you wantd them to.

The beauty secret is sugar wax! Sugar wax is a wax, which is made of sugar, lemon juice and water. These ingredients are less expensive than other depilate products, score!

Another advantage is that the wax is 100% natural and, because you made it yourself, you know which ingredients are in it. No chemicals, therefore extremely good for your skin.

The sugar wax is a traditional depilatory method that was used in the antiquity. Originally, this method is from Egypt. They often say that old recipes and methods usually work best, and in this case it is absolutely true! Also, this method is less painful than other wax methods. Furthermore, the wax is safe to use on all parts of the body, which is likely because the wax is simply a mixture of sugar, lemon juice and water.

Lets get started!

What do you need?

• a container (for the wax)
• a cup
• a pan
• Lemon juice (squeezed or from a bottle)
• Sugar
• Water

What you need to do?

First you add 2 cups of sugar to the pan. Then add ¼ cup of lemon juice to the sugar and after that add ¼ cup of water. Make sure you mix all the ingredients together.

Now put the wax on the stove on a low fire. Not too high because the wax will get too dark, which means that you ruined it and that is, ofcourse, not what you want. Let the wax on the stove until it is boiling. When it is boiling, the wax gets a white foam layer. You can stir it with a spoon to get rid of the foam layer.

Now, let the wax simmer for about 10 minutes until it has a nice yellow, gold, brown color.

When your wax is finished it is incredible hot. Be careful!

Pour the wax into the container and leave it until it is cold.

Using the wax!

The best method is to use the wax when it is cooled. Take some wax out of the container and form a small ball in your hands. Now press the ball on the place along with the hair growth direction and pull the wax away against the hair growth direction.
